Self Assessment

I think that I have a better outlook on mental health from this class, in which will help me with my own physical fitness as well as others. I am making some progress on mental fitness, it is just hard for me to sit still for a period of time and let go of the negative. But how I see it is that you cant just be great at something, you must practice first. I have learned a great deal about meditation and letting go of the negative impact of life. I always knew that stress can cause health problems but I never really thought to relate mental fitness to physical fitness in that way. This class has opened my eyes and I will practice it more and teach others along the way.

Fostering Growth

I think it is very important for health professionals to be developed in all areas of health and wellness. They must to be able to relate, react, teach, and help others in the forms of psychologically, spiritually and physically wellness. If one is not developed in the areas, how can they expect someone to listen and take in what they say! The area that I need to work on developing the most is spiritually. It is very hard for me to set the time aside and sit down to clear my mind and body of the negative impacts in my life. Although, since I have started taking this class it has made me realize how much one needs to be developed in spiritual wellness. I have assessed myself in the aspects of psychologically, spiritually and physically wellness and give myself an average grade. I am well developed in the areas of psychologically and physically wellness but lack in spirituality. Until I attended this class I was unaware of how much of a role spirituality played in wellness. That goes to say that no one ever knows everything and there is always room for growth. If you think you have no room for more knowledge then you are wrong. Goals are something that I live by every day and try to teach others about have goals. Without having a goal, you will never really achieve where you want to be; because goals set a specific achievement with a set time and measurement. My physical goal is to compete in the World’s Toughest Mudder in 2014. Psychologically or mental health goal is to never let my mind tell me that I cannot accomplish something. When you start to tell yourself that you can’t do that, then that is where you break down mentally and ultimately physically. My spiritual goal is to take what I have learned in the class and continue developing it and adapting it into my daily life. I am going to foster my physical growth my increasing my workouts with intensity and distance. As well, I plan to compete in as many tough mudders and other physical challenges to test my abilities. For psychological growth, I plan on attending classes on meditation. This will help me understand it more and practice letting go of the negative elements; while also fostering my spiritual growth. Tracking my progress is growth or lack thereof is fairly simple for me; I keep a record of my workouts and achievements. As well, I keep a board with my current goals listed on them with dates and status.
